General Subaru Tuning Questions.

Q. What kind of gains should I expect from a Tuning Alliance Map or Tune?

A. Our maps are dyno proven to gain typically between 5-10 wheel horsepower and 10-25 FT-LBS at the wheels, over OTS maps. The exact numbers vary depending cars, setups, and other factors. You will also notice a smoother power band and increased drivablity.

Q. Will is map or tune reduce the reliability of my car?

A. No, like Cobb maps our maps are designed for additional response and learning over OTS maps and Stock tunes. The timing, fuel and boost tables are optimized too run a safe and efficient engine. Cylinder trims, temperature corrections, knock learning, knock response, boost control, timing advance, throttle mapping, and many other parameters are remapped to produce a highly reliable system.

The main reason OEM tunes are actually less reliable then tuned maps, is do to closed loop delays. These delays hold the injector fueling back to attempt to gain fuel economy and reduce emissions, but only results in dangerous lean conditions which promote knock. This in conjunction is limited knock response and learning can lead into damage. Especially if the car is exposed to prolonged high load or forced elevated load, like a manual boost controller on a stock tune.

Q. What is the best modification single?

A. A protune or map! Schedule one today.

Q. What upgrade should I get next?

A. Recommended Subaru upgrade path: 1. Downpipe/Up-pipe 2. Full Exhaust 3. Intercooler 4. Intake. 5. Turbo. The first step is a Tune always, and each change requires a tune as well.

Q. What do I log and how? Directions HOW
